Date: 15 November 2019

Description:

ARCA PUTRAJAYA has won an award under “MIP MyPLACE AWARD 2019: Excellence in Placemaking”.

The award given was “President’s Special Recognition” conferred to Putrajaya Corporation (PJC).

Artjamila felt very honoured for MIP and PJC to invite us with them to receive the award on stage.

Arca Putrajaya (2.4 m high x 22m length) is a Putrajaya landmark city sign designed to rejuvenate and enliven the Putra Square, a place of identity known as the “heart of administrative capital” in Putrajaya. It is a major attraction for tourists and visitors as a must destination to be visited in Putrajaya #hotspotzone. Every year, there are 6 to 7 millions visitors who visit the sculpture of Putrajaya. The existence of the Putrajaya Structure has made the place more lively and vibrant. At night, it is filled with family leisure activities and creates well being and a happy city. Artjamila’s painting was selected because the painting, titled “Unity in Diversity Skyline Series 3”, is suitable for the Merdeka celebration 2019. The painting represents the multi-racial community in Malaysia living in harmony and peacefully as one nation.

MyPLACE AWARDS 2019 recognises excellence in placemaking efforts by organisations and communities to improve public spaces which bring positive impacts, benefits to their local communities and creates a sense of place to the public.

Thank you to Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) for organizing this event in conjunction with world town planning day.

The lesson learnt throughout her journey:
1. Weakness is a gift.
2. We can only see light in darkness.
3. Without darkness, a star can’t shine.
4. Today’s little moments become tomorrow’s precious memories.

I AM CAT will be an initiative to educate Malaysians about autism and acceptance through our most loved pets – cats. The behaviour of cats are similar to some extent with people who have autism. A cat normally likes to keep to itself most of the time. A cat is normally obsessed with the things that they like to do. A cat may bite or scratch you if they do not like what you are doing. If you can love and accept a pet that is so unique and different in its behaviour, then you can also accept someone with autism.
